PRESENTATION

Course Overview

This course is intended to introduce Methods of writing in economics to students, so that by the end of the course, students will be able to draft a short Report which includes some Technical materials (methodology box, Commented Tables, Executive summary, Policy recommendations.) to answer the questions of their interest.

Students will have to read Policy Briefs, Notes, Reports… They will have to assess both their own work and the work of their classmates during the course.

Special event related to the course: « Les journées de l’économie » JECO,

The students will:

  1. Follow in direct policy-oriented debate on a large variety of topics
  2. Apply for participating in person to the JECO and meet Economic Experts ( 4 grants available to support travel and accommodation expenses)

CONTENT

  • Each sequence is structured with 2 hours of Lectures and 1 Hour of supervised activity by student. 

    Sequence 1 Lecture time will be devoted to the presentation of different type of writings in Economics and to the presentation of the assignement for this course and tools

    Sequance 1 Activity time will be devoted to Exercices and to the  Choice of an Essay Topic  by Students

  • Each sequence is structured with 2 hours of Lectures and 1 Hour of supervised activity by student. 

    Sequence 2 Lecture time will be devoted to the presentation of editing constraints

    Sequence 2 Activity time will be devoted to Exercices and to the  check the advancement of reading by Students
