PRESENTATION

The study of organizations is one of the most exciting areas of management science because it allows us to better understand our environment and give it meaning. From kindergarten to our workplace, organizations "populate" our daily lives and our lives. Organizational theories began where microeconomic theories stopped, trying to understand "the black box", a term used by economists to describe the company. This course prepares students to understand other subjects in the field of management such as human resources management, strategy, marketing, etc. We will see more specifically how specific theoretical works have enriched our understanding of how organizations work and the challenges they face.

The course is highlighted by vivid examples, discussion with the audience, and video extracts. Students are asked to read book extracts providing their understanding of it. It will constitute the basic material for class discussions and be furthered developed with Prof. Galière
